Here is some basic information about the mandala.

The word “mandala” is from Sanskrit language which means “circle”. A mandala is far more than a simple shape. It represents wholeness, and can be seen as a model for the organizational structure of life itself – a cosmic diagram that reminds us of our relation to the infinite, the world that extends both beyond and within our bodies and minds.

Disclaimer: It is important for me to record here that this is not why I started working on them. My use of mandalas is out of necessity¬† – I like geometric patterns but can’t really draw them. Pre-drawn mandala pattens offer a beautiful way out of this situation!
